The Keyword Surge project is one of the signature features of Keyword Elite 2.0. On the surface, it may seem a little bit simple, but if you dig into its functionality a little bit more, the tool becomes a lot more powerful. I’ve been using it on several of my own projects to generate large long tail keyword lists very quickly. As someone who does a lot of pay per click marketing, this is a huge advantage for my campaigns as I am able to get cheap traffic for keywords that I wouldn’t have been able to come up with myself.

To start using the Keyword Surge project, you first need to type in your main keyword. I’ve found that 2-3 word phrases seem to give me the best results. If you go too broad, you will have to filter out a lot of irrelevant results and going too long tail sometimes doesn’t give enough. It really does depend though on the purpose of your keyword list. You also have the choice of where you want Keyword Elite to go out and find your keywords. By default, the program uses what it calls the Keyword Elite Engine. This is a proprietary database of keywords developed for the software itself. You also have the choice of including results from Ask.com, website meta tags, the Google Suggestion Tool, and the free WordTracker keyword database. Ask.com is good for finding more related keywords while the Google suggestion and WordTracker databases are more useful for finding permutations of your keyword.

One thing I really like about Keyword Elite 2.0 is how much faster performing searches are compared to the old version. You can also do multiple searches simultaneously since the software now supports multiple threads. When a Keyword Surge search has finished, you will get back a table of search results which includes the keywords, parent keyword, keyword source and searches per month on Google. One nice feature is that the columns can each be individually filtered. For example, the Keyword column allows you to remove keywords from the results that contain a certain phrase while the Searches/month column allows you to filter out keywords that don’t meet a certain threshold of searches

Usually most people stop at this stage and use just these generated keywords in their projects. However, Keyword Elite has a few other tricks up its sleeve that you might not be aware of that can really explode the amount of keywords that you get. One way is to generate new permutations by adding a word or phrase to the beginning or end of the generated keyword lists. This is quite useful if you are trying to create a keyword list of a localized PPC campaign. Lets say you were trying to promote a car insurance CPA offer. Unless you have some very deep pockets, it is highly unlikely that you can get any ads showing on the first page for regular car insurance related keywords. The competition is just too high which means the bids are astronomical. However, you might be able to compete for long tails like “Palo Alto car insurance” and regional keywords like that. The fact that Keyword Elite can generate keywords like that in seconds is completely awesome.

Another Keyword Surge feature I really like is the Google ABC function. To access this, you select one or more of the keywords on your list and right click to bring up the context menu. Select Google ABC and Keyword Elite will search for the root keyword plus each letter of the alphabet. For example, lets say you perform Google ABC function on the phrase “keyword research”. For “keyword research + s”, you would get back keywords like “keyword research seo”, and “keyword research strategy”. These are additional keywords that weren’t found in the initial search query and you can see that this can quickly explode your list of long tail keywords.

Finally, the last feature I wanted to highlight is the Keyword Grouping feature. You can create as many groups as you want by clicking the green plus icon, and you can add keywords by just dragging and drop them into to the group area. This is a very valuable for when you are working with extremely large lists. You can export groups and delete them very easily as well. If you do PPC on the content network a lot, you know how important it is to great tightly themed ad groups. Using the Keyword Elite grouping features makes this extremely easy to do.

The Keyword surge module is an excellent way to create keyword lists for many different purposes. It is especially useful if you do any PPC marketing where generating large list of keywords is important. I make a lot of money creating CPA Polls and I am finding the Keyword surge project to be an invaluable tool to creating large and relevant keyword lists quickly. Many of these long tail keywords I would have missed with other keyword research tools, and you can really make money on these since the competition is so low. If you own a copy of Keyword Elite, then definitely check out some of the features I mentioned above, and start utilizing the Keyword surge project to its full potential.

I’ve been playing around with Keyword Elite 2.0 for awhile now, and there are several overlooked features that you might not know about in the software. One of these is the Create Content Pages function that is part of the Keyword Surge module. This feature lets you create a Google Adsense site in a couple of minutes, allowing you to generate some passive google adsense revenue. To use it, you just select some keywords you specify and the software will pull a related article from an article directory for each keyword. It will then stick your Adsense code in each page and generate a set of html files for you to upload to your server.

Setting this up in Keyword Elite 2 is pretty straightforward. You first need to add your Adsense code into the software. This is located in the preferences where you can add in the unique client id and channel id from your own Adsense account. You can also configure the color scheme of your ads here as well.

Once that is done, go over to the Keyword Surge module and search for a keyword you want to center your site around. For example, lets say I want to build a site around guitar courses. I can type that in and KE2 will return me a list of related keywords. To build your content pages, just select the keywords you want to use, right click and choose the Create Content Pages action. A wizard pops up and it immediately starts by grabbing articles for each of your keywords. The next page of the wizard allows you to pick between three different page templates and also the location where to save the pages. Go to the next page, and voila! Instant ready made Adsense site.

Keyword Elite will generate a single html page for each of the keywords you specify plus a sitemap linking all the pages together. All you have to do is upload your pages to your server and you’re done. If you don’t want to create a static website, you can also open up the files themselves and copy and paste them into your own Wordpress blog for example. Creating these types of Adsense sites is not for everyone, but if you want to pocket a little bit of extra Google Adsense revenue, Keyword Elite 2.0 makes it quite easy. This feature is especially useful if you have no experience creating websites by hand and are looking for an automated solution. Before you start with this, make sure to use KE2 to do the proper keyword research and find some high paying, low competition keywords to target. Then use good link building and SEO strategies with these sites, and you should be able to make a good amount of Adsense income using this strategy. It’s definitely worth a try.

Update: It’s just a 14 Day Free Trial. Using an article network like this can really help you build up lots of backlinks for your sites. The second bonus is free access to a product called Buyer Keywords. I didn’t spend too much time looking into it, but it is a product that is supposed to launch in a couple of days.

I have only spent about an hour or so playing around with my copy of Keyword Elite 2.0. The best feature so far is the Adwords Time Machine feature. It seems to work pretty well. Make sure to return to this blog over the next few days and I will have a more detailed Keyword Elite 2.0 review which will go into each of the new Keyword Elite projects in more detail.

I just received an email from Brad Callen himself, announcing the prelaunch for Keyword Elite 2.0. The actual launch itself is set to happen a week from now, on August 25th. As an existing Keyword Elite customer, this new release has me very excited as the current software is my favorite keyword research tool. I use it all the time for both my pay per click campaigns and just plain old SEO. It works great, and I usually recommend it to everyone who asks what my favorite keyword research tool is.

Keyword Elite 2 looks to have some amazing new features. Brad Callen has taken all the major feature requests from his current customers and has been incorporating it into this new version of Keyword Elite. Here is a list of some of the features I have been able to gather.

Entirely new Web 2.0 style interface. Existing users know that Keyword Elite was never the best looking software program out there. The new interface looks great, but it’s not all fluff. It’s actually a lot more functional, and allows for faster navigation, ease of use, and an overall better user experience.

Adwords Time Machine. This brand new feature of Keyword Elite 2 allows you to check out the entire Google Adwords Ad history of any advertiser for the past 6 months. This will allow you to “steal” the ad copy from successful advertisers and use them in your own PPC campaigns. Similar features in programs like PPC Bully 2 and Google Cash Detective 2 cost well over $1500, so having this included in Keyword Elite will be a steal.

Adwords Site Targeter. Another new feature of Keyword Elite 2 which enables you to find sites on the net that are displaying adsense ads in your niche. You can target these sites in your Google Adwords campaigns, or just contact site owners directly and try to negotiate your own media buys.

JV Diamond Miner. I haven’t heard of this feature anywhere else. The JV Diamond Miner allows you to find sites in your niche that are building email lists. You can then go out an contact these site owners and work out deals to promote your own products on their lists.

CPA Magnet. For CPA marketers, this sounds like a great new feature of Keyword Elite 2. CPA Magnet allows you to find highly converting CPA offers and help you make money off them through something called “stealth keyword generation”. Not quite sure exactly what that means, but I’m interested to see what it is about.

Speed Improvements. Keyword Elite 2 is almost 10 times faster than its predecessor at generating keywords and displaying relevant data.

Run Projects Simultaneously. Previously in Keyword Elite, you could only run one project at a time. With this new version, you can run as many project types as you want at the same time.

Proprietary Keyword Elite keyword data source. Instead of relying on third-party keyword data, Keyword Elite 2 now includes its own keyword data source. This allows it to return keyword data to you in seconds instead of minutes.

This is just a handful of the major new features set for Keyword Elite 2 but there are a bunch of other great new enhancements planned as well. When Keyword Elite 2 launches next week, I will be updating this blog with my full Keyword Elite review.
